Veronica Mascaro and William Newman have been performing together since 1999. In that time, the duo has appeared on college campuses and in concert series both in the United States and abroad. In 2002, they were awarded the Geoffrey Gilbert Performer’s Scholarship by the Florida Flute Association for their performance of Astor Piazzolla’s "L’Histoire du Tango". In the summer of 2005 the duo served as ensemble-in-residence and faculty members for the Boccherini Chamber Music Festival in Madrid, Spain where they performed in several historic concert venues including the chapel of the Royal Palace in Aranjuez and the Iglesia de Santa Catalina in Madrid. Since the fall of 2005, the duo has proudly built a musical relationship with the Reading Musical Foundation by performing in their Reading Museum Concert Series and providing a master class for aspiring young chamber musicians. Actively involved in expanding the flute and classical guitar repertoire, the duo has transcribed many works for flute and guitar including the complete set of flute quartets by W.A. Mozart. Their publications include Robert Schumann’s "Three Romances", Op. 94, Heitor Villa-Lobos' "Assobio A Jato" (The Jet Whistle) and W.A. Mozart's "Flute Quartet" in D Major, K.285.
